What a lovely week we've had. It's been awhile since I have enjoyed a staycation, and these consecutive days of doing a whole lot of nothing have been marvelous.
Our meals---entrees and desserts---have been prepared entirely on the grill. Husband purchased and inflated a crab themed pool to ward off the heat from our rooftop deck. The park entertained the fur babes and gave them plenty of space to chase after the beloved orange ball and to chomp on grass galore. The dog beach beckoned for the first time in months and although we mostly watched from just beyond the perimeter, it was such fun. Excellent books, wine and beer have been in constant rotation, and our cozy little abode has turned out to be quite the place to do a little vacationing (and a lot of relaxing).
Our evenings have been a cacophony of fireworks, but even the fur babes settled in eventually, barely raising an eye when yet another explosion sounded beyond the window.
It has been a great start to summer, and we are grateful for our country, hard earned freedom and the open expanse of a few sun-soaked days in which to celebrate it all.
We hope you had just as much fun, friends.

And we thought about sweet Lucy as she celebrated her fifth birthday. We missed her this holiday, and look forward to celebrating with her on our next lake weekend.
