Last month, we spent a few days in the mountains with my parents. This is becoming tradition and offers a great opportunity for me to see my beloved mountains soaked in fall colors and to get in great family time and let R experience fun on her grandparents turf.
As a kid, I spent luxurious amounts of time with my grandparents including regular Saturday night sleepovers, daily time at their real estate office and even a stint where I lived with them while my parents put the final touches on their college degrees.
Obviously, Rowan can't have that same experience since she doesn't live in the same city as her grandparents. But that shouldn't stop her from getting to know her the three amazing people who fill that role in her life or from experiencing that magical happiness that can only come from being at Nana and Grandad's house or Mimi's house.
That's what I loved the most about this trip. Of course we did a list of fun things including a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, and R's first NFL game, but the best parts were really just watching her play. She thrives in the love and attention they so willingly give to her, and I thrive on seeing life come full circle right in front of me.
Thanks Mom and Dad, we had a lovely time. Same time next year? :)
