Yesterday, Graham spent some time getting acquainted with Nanny B and I set off for a morning adventure with my big girl.
We enjoyed our beloved chai latte and yogurt pouch at Starbucks and then headed for the zoo. It was a picture perfect day, not a cloud in the sky, and we rode the carousel and the choo choo and set out to see as many animal friends as we could. There were tigers and zebras and monkeys and bears and so, so many birds. We didn't make it to the giraffe or polar bear exhibits this time, but they're on the top of our list for the next trip.
Zoos still make me a little sad and so does knowing that I will soon be away from my girl (and boy!) for much of the work week again. But oh, it was a lovely, special day. I think we both need many more just like it.
"Go to the zoo with Mommy! So much fun. I yike it!"
"See so many animals. Bright sunshiney day!"
"Rode the choo choo and a Ginny!" (All giraffes are Ginny to R, and that was her animal of choice on our carousel ride).
She fell asleep on our way home and I drove quietly, glancing at her in the rear view mirror from time to time. Savoring the moment and feeling so damn lucky that she's mine.
