Last weekend, we baptized G. At thirteen months he was considerably older than the other babies, but was also the best behaved of the bunch, which we chalked up to more life experience. (Wink).
The occasion brought us boat loads of family which is our favorite by-product of any event. Uncle Matt and Aunt KC proved to be stellar godparents and our assortment of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins displayed in stark detail what a blessed bunch we are.
I have been thinking a lot lately about the responsibility of exposing my littles to the concept and experience of faith. I am working through what that means for us specifically, but this felt like a great step in the right direction and it made official Catholics of all human members of Team Carretta.
Gratitude feels like too small a word to express what I feel when I step back and observe this fantastic life and these fantastic people. As they say (and I believe this in the various contexts in which each person of faith finds herself), God is good.
And whether or not it's sufficient, I am indeed grateful.
